A kid I had as a student years ago got this at Beltsville dam about 30 miles from home. The kid is a fishing fanatic and well surpasses my angling skills at his age. He brought it into the shop to get its weight. 37# 2 oz. Got a picture in the shop but thought this one was more appropriate. Well beyond the state record of 53 lbs. taken at Raystown dam but I’ve never seen or heard of any from that lake any better.

Holy crap Brad, how big was the hole in the ice? That's a beautiful Bass! That's bigger than any I've ever caught in the ocean, never mind thru the ice. Congrats to him, and thanks for posting it.

Holy guacamole! He pulled that monster through the ice. I’d say his angling skills have surpassed most of ours! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Fred, good question. In Pa. the hole in the ice is limited to 10 inches! But I have heard stories in the past about ice fisherman that hook a huge fish and take the time to chop the hole bigger to get it up.

They always carry an ice spud and have used it on various occasions when fish were too big to remove from the hole.

Wow I would be nervous trying to break the ice and not loose that monster. As said before he obviously has more angling skill than me.

Hey BK, does that bring up a legal question? You are busy chopping the hole bigger than 10 inches and the fish commission officer comes by and measures the now too big hole. Are you getting written up and fined? I would hope not, but you hear stories about some being real jerks!

Awesome HOG. Many here asked the same question. How in the world did it come through a circular hole of even 12”?

Great he did it. Looks like a chainsaw is much more effective for opening in ice than an auger.

Wow.
