Can I add braid?

Just spooled my first spinning reel. After reading and watching so many videos about it, I was nervous to not under or over fill. In the event that I determine that I didn’t put enough on, can I tie a knot and add to my line? Would the knot cause problems going through the guides?

Yes you can add line to your reel. I use the Uni to Uni knot (double Uni) with at least 10 turns on each knot. I’ve never had any problems with the knot breaking or pulling apart. Good luck and tight lines.

Iorafa what lb line do you use. I use dbl uni also. I use 5/7 turns ea. I use 8lb backing n up to 20 lb braid or up to 12/14 lb floro. Never had a problem either. Recently learned Alberto knot. I'll try it this yr to compare the two

I always take several rods with me when I go fishing. They’re spooled with 10, 15, & 20 pound braid. I always use a monofilament leader Usually 20 or 30 pound test.

I only freshwater fish. Last yr I used some 8lb braid. This yr I'm going to try some 5lb power pro. I only use leader if I use hi vis. Have a good season 👍👍

When I lived in Penna, I did a lot of trout fishing. I didn’t use braided line back then. I fished with a 4’ ultra lite rod and 4 pound test monofilament. This is one of the better trout I caught. It’s a lot of fun catching fish on a little rod.

Nice trout brother. Trout streams around here don't have ones like that. What part of Pa did you live in

I've been adding new braid to old braid for several years without a problem. Double uni to double uni work fine.
