A tale of two topics.

Seen two topics this morning that brought back some old memories, History repeats itself and Smelt fishing in Puget Sound. My earliest memories of fishing with my dad and grandpa, getting up at dark thirty, stopping at a ditch along the way to pull up minnow traps for bait and then to the lake to catch catfish. We lived near Milwaukee Wisconsin at the time, late sixties early seventies and then mid to late seventies visiting my grandparents on my mothers side in Wrangell Ak,going to the marina with my grandpa Ole to visit one of his friends who lived on a boat there and pulling up grandpas smelt nets, filling up a bucket full of smelt for the smoker, and while grandpa would visit with his friend I would sit at the end of the dock and catch flounder, bullheads and occasionally a fat Dolly Varden. Some very fond memories I wish to thank the forum for bringing back to the surface and actually coinsides with my first fishing excursion this year once my boat is back from repair and service,I'll be taking a friend from AA and his two daughters on Lake Stevens to wet some lines and maybe catch some bass, perch or kokanee, theres definitely something special seeing kids light up when they're catching fish.Heres to old memories and the making of new memories as well.May the fish gods smile on us all.
