I’m looking at getting a new fish finder
in the price range of $400-$600 maybe $750 but it would have to find, catch, and clean the fish for that price ( would have to be a great unit ) I’ve seen some bad reviews
out there but you guys are using them
I mostly fish lakes and rivers sometimes salt
I have a 14 ft aluminum boat no steering wheel 9.9 4 stroke electric start
So I’m not a tect geek so looking for EASY
to use don’t care 🤷♂️ who makes it

Good morning Edward. I have a Hook² 9" TrippleShot on my 14' Lowe. I like it, but I'm a little biased towards Lowrance, I've had them for 40yrs.
The lower end of your budget will get you a good 7" unit from the big 3 brands, and your maybe number can probably get you a 9" unit, especially a closeout model. All of these would have standard, downscan, sidescan, and navigation (charts).
My advice is go to BPS, Cabelas, or another dealer and play with the display models, and see what is easier for you to maneuver through. Keep in mind, the bigger the screen, the easier to see.
Good luck.
At bass pro shop or Cabela's you can compare brands. Unfortunately the price of a good depth sounders is going up many are integrated to work with the newer trolling motors.they have features like spot lock, 360° real time. Side Scan. Gps course plotter. The dept sounder helps you locate fish. The fisherman must analyze the data and figure out how to catch fish.

I just bought a new trolling motor but it is not one of those it’s a edge cost 400.00
I have a Cabela’s near me
Thank you for your information
I run a Garmin Striker 9 plus on my bow and an Echomap plus on the console
The Striker is a pretty good unit
Echomap is excellent but a little out of the budget.

I have had a Lowrance for the past 3 years, but switched to a Garmin 9" Striker Vivid and by far much easier to use. Play with it and you will see!! Sorry Fred

That's ok OBG, I'm actually thinking about a mega 360 'Bird on the bow of the next boat.

Next boat, new fishfinder? Someone getting ready for retirement?
Just checked out the mega 360, whole different technology, very interesting.

I’ve gone on line and looked at the Garmen striker
And the Lorance hook and a Hummingbird
I saw bad reviews on all of them mostly for no maps they use GPS. Maps are good but if I can see the contour or what’s underneath the boat I’m good. I don’t really need all that auto steer or a lot of that control things. For $1500,00 bucks
Just a good picture of what’s below

Garmin striker 9" is about $600, but I think the 7" is around $400. You can map your own contours in the area you are fishing.

That will be my first Bassboat, and bow screen. Most of the time you're fishing out in front of the boat, not straight down. Being able to see all around the front of the boat would be awesome. Not set in stone yet but it the running.
Look at all the features plus factory support if you have a problem. See what the turn around is in repairs . Also look at if it has the ability to be upgraded. Lowrance has a decent turn around and so does hummingbird.ive heard good things about Garmin as well. Also see if it's comparable to your trolling motor.
Got one of these on sale last year for $650 at the Basspro spring sale. It can make its own map of the lake. You can also import waypoints from google earth from lakes that have been drawn down. I love it. Hope this helps.
