Considering some of the recent
posts, here's a humorous little
story to lighten the mood ! Hang
in there - it's a little long in print !
Three friends (turtle/lizard/rabbit)
who live close to each other are
tired of living hand-to-mouth, so
they decide to pool their resources and start a little farm to grow and
sell produce for a steady income !
When they start discussing it,
they realize that the soil on their properties isn't very good and they need a steady water supply, so they
decide to put their money together
to buy some fertilizer and have a shared well dug at the juncture of
their three properties ! Problem is,
one of them will have to pull a cart
quite a-ways to get it, which is a
round-trip of no less than six
months each way on foot, so the rabbit volunteers to make the trip !
While he's gone, the well is being
dug and they strike oil, becoming
very rich overnight ! When the rabbit returns with the cart full of fertilizer, he can't believe the changes - the other two have built a small mansion and surrounded it with a nice yard
and gardens !
He approaches the house with the loaded cart, rings the doorbell,
and is greeted by a really snooty
butler with a snotty attitude ! The following conversation ensues -
"Yes, sir ! How may I help you ?"
"Say, Jeeves ! Is Turtle at home ?"
"Mr. Tur-tal is by the well !"
"Okay, then ! Is Lizard around ?"
"Mr. Lee-zard is in the yard ! "
" Great ! You can go and tell Mr.
Tur-tal and Mr. Lee-zard that Mr.
Rab-beet is here with the s**t !"
Had to dig deep into the 'memory bank' for that one - heard it from
my friend/neighbor's mom many, many, many moons ago (in my early teens) - guess it was triggered by something in a recent post !
Took a little doing to remember
the whole story and write it in
a manner suitable for the Stage,
as my memory is no longer the sharpest tool in the shed ! Glad
it was well-received ! Thanks for
the accolades !

Good for a chuckle here!!
Hey, Gold-digger ! How you doin' ?
Do you miss Arizona at all ? I do
miss N.H. sometimes - especially
miss having my trout fishing closer
to home, and fresh seafood in the summer ! Got a rude reminder of home last Wednesday - chill rain w/temps in the 40s and 20-knot
winds made for the coldest, most
miserable day I can remember in
the 19+ years (accumulated) that
I've been here !
Fortunately, it's been improving on
a daily basis - should hit the mid-80s by Wednesday, then back down to
the mid-60s (again) by the following Wednesday ! Gotta love this yo-yo weather, EH ?
