Ice Thicknesses In Stark County Ohio

I know I should get off the couch and drive to all my favorite fishing spots and check for the water conditions for myself....but I'm not. So I'm going to ask ....has the ice melted and can we fish from shore safely and effectively. Thanks in advance.

I’m considerably north of you and yesterday I drove around checking out a few small lakes. THE ICE WAS NOT SAFE ANYWHERE! I did find a few spots you could safely get a line in the water to attempt to fish for the stocked trout from shore but I didn’t see anywhere there was enough open water to actually cast a line. Be safe and good luck if you head out. There are a bunch of guys out your way they will hopefully chime in.

I thought of the same thing. Deercreek and Walborn. I was thinking about checking the edges to see if the ice is melting. Can't wait to get out and feed some crappies.

Deercreek looked good when I went out about 1 1/2 weeks ago. Still was a little cold for my liking
