Regarding Waterdog's post on the P38

Was at a loss for a minute until I'd read a couple of responses - had never used one, but had seen them
in military surplus outlets (Army/
Navy stores ?), and pretty sure
some of my friends/relatives had
used them in 'Nam !

Another member (jarijenkins) also mentioned another, larger version, which was designated the P51 -
here is a photo of both models !

I had one for years, don’t know where it ended up. Probably the same place as my Old Timer knife. Never rusted, not sure what the metal was.

Looked it up - according to Google, they were made of Stainless Steel !

Have had mine for many many years and use it camping until they came out with battery powered can openers lol

I still have one. The 38 was Steel and the P51 was like hardened Aluminum and harder to use. The hole was so you could tie a string to it and dunk it in Boiling water to clean it. Got mine from a case of C-Rats from the Vietnam Era. Did you know that the "John Wayne Bars" were really good when fresh? Well kinda fresh. The WWII ones tasted more like JP5 according to my brother.

I had one on my key ri g fir years. Gave it to a real good friend who was moving west and planned on doing a lot of camping

I've got one an still use it when camping on my key chain put it between keys to help keep it closed 😳
