Hello all. I moved to East TN 6 years ago and have not really found any kind of groove of fishing freshwater. I need all the help I can get! I miss fishing so much and I just want to get back out there! Any help would be much appreciated!

Macdog0: Friend, do you fish from a boat or from shore? That makes a big difference. With a boat you can be more of a hunter, depending up what electronics your boat is equipped with, such as GPS and Sonar, so you can look down and see the fish. Just Sayin...RJS

As of right now, I’d be fishing from shore. I do plan to get a boat in the future but for now I am just going to be limited to shore fishing.

I would check a local bait shop close to where you want to fish. You can also search on line for a state fishing website or a local fishing ub. All have a vested interest in your success. Also check our memberist for someone from the Stage in your area.

We have a very active member from Tennessee that catches truckloads of smallmouth bass and big ones. Hopefully he’ll check in and give you some pointers👍. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the Forum, Mack. It depends on your target fish. You are going to be somewhat limited without a boat. You have been there for 6 years, you must know someone or work with someone that does fish. Ask him to take you out sometime when he goes. He would probably be happy to do it. Good luck.

Welcome Mackdog. I live in Strawberry Plains, about 40 minutes north of Lenoir City and have fished your area consistently for the last year. I fish from the shore and have fished Tellico Lake and Lenoir City Park across from the marina. I've had some luck catching large and smallmouth bass across from the boat launch off Hwy 321. We use minnows bought at The Last Cast bait shop under the Marathon station off 321. I've also fished T-docks in Knoxville and the public dock in Dandridge on Douglas Lake. I'm still learning and shore fishing limits your opportunities. You also have Watts Bar Lake not far from you. Hope this helps you a bit.
