The price of peace of mind.I've had a couple small boats, skiffs really, with electric trolling motors and or two stroke kickers,ok for lakes but not much else and very cheap to maintain. My 16' Duraboat I got last summer is by far the most capable boat I've owned and the most expensive so far.electric downriggers, pot puller, marine battery,a new starter and now a waterpump plus getting the hundred hr service performed on top of the comfort features I've added, new seats, mechanics toolbox,T-top biminy and brand new plywood deck and waterproofing. And all of that to be able to go chase fish.If anybody thinks catching fish is cheaper than buying in a store, they'd be sadly mistaken and I didn't even touch the topic of tackle.lol. But for all of the cost to do what I love(fishing)knowing I will be comfortable and my boat will not only get me out fishing,it will also get me back home again, its a cost I pay happily. May all out there that go fishing make it back home safely.
I’m with ya, finished putting new bearing in the boat trailer, even though I could have just cleaned the bearing and put new marine grease. Now I wouldn’t be worrying about being stuck on the side of the road instead of fishing.

A hole in the water that you keep throwing $ into. What you find in the grocery store is probably farm raised and not very healthy to eat. I know where mine come from and they don't sit around for long and get degraded in flavor or quality, Besides, I'm in the out-of-doors to get 'em.

The same to you SA. I may be taking my boat and trailer out of state for the first time this year so, tires and bearings are on the agenda. Probably add a transom saver as well. Have a great year, and be safe out there.

I was behind a person hauling a boat last year, his passenger side trailer tire had a Bad wobble to it,I tried getting his attention by flashing my headlights at him many times,he never slowed down and I had to turn down a different highway after two miles.I felt kinda bad for the guy cause it was a nice fishing boat and the worst fishing trip is the one you don't get to.My last salmon trip ended at the boat launch with a fried starter and a dead battery, replaced both, first attempt on the water this year discovered the bad waterpump, luckily I wasn't going fishing, was just testing before a trip I have planned to eastern Washington
I hear you, Salmon Addict. I try to keep the maintenance up on my boat. The price to keep it in good shape is well worth it to me. I have heard from many guys that the two best days in their lives was the day they bought their boat and the day they sold it. Not me, I love my boat! I'll be chasing sockeyes for five weeks this summer on the Kenai in Alaska. Can't wait.
I always go over the boat and the trailer in the spring long before I hit the water. Run the motor, check the bearings, etc. I want to make sure there are no problems when I am ready to go

My moms side came from Alaska, I'm jealous, never got to fish up there other than the crab boat
