Back in the day things were made to last.Cars, homes, tools etc.In today's market its the exact opposite, parts are built to fail on purpose, The water pump in my Honda outboard needs replacing, thought it was due to freezing residual water, found out today it has a 300 hour lifespan, the more you use it ,the sooner you need to replace it.Companies going to get your money one way or another.Build something right and charge you top dollar or build it to fail so you pay to have it fixed.

Yes it's funny how things can breakdown the day after the warranty ends huh?

Its called enginered failure. Things are designed to barely outlast their warranty. Hot water tanks used to last 20 years +. If you buy a brand new one I garauntee it will not make a year past whatever the warranty coverage date is. I’ve seen it over and over.

SA, having my water heater replaced tomorrow that came with the new house. Made it 10 months and the hybrid function stopped working properly. Plumber told me that was normal and just put it on electric.

Called the builder asked him to make a call. At first the plumber wanted to charge me, little did they know i am a master plumber.

And thats why they want to sell you an extended warranty. I do wood work, framing, remodel, custom carpentry, decks and gazebos, callbacks from my clients are to have me do new projects, and new clients are referred by my existing people, I don't have to look for work and I don't advertise. It's rather nice and best of all, they don't complain when I take time off for fishing!!!
