Well it started out on a cold frosty morning
The boat i went out on last weekend was there and I guess his kicker motor would not start and he had a boat full he had to cancel the trip. Too bad
Our boat was was ready to go we were going to drift fish useing a two hook set up with nickel size beads one above each hook with a sliding bobber set about 4 feet there was two people plus the captain in the boat we went up river a mile or so and we were getting bites and hooking bottom good thing we had about 8 rods set up waiting to
Switch out as they broke off
We caught a few white fish we drifted about a mile or two pass our put in spot. and then motor back up again and start over
We fished from 7 am to 1:30 pm
But no STEEL HEAD. Maybe I’ll do better with SALMON??? We did our best just not many fish only 1 fish was caught on a private boat. Oh well

Nice!!! I used to live in Tenino, on the Old Highway by the big log houses across the creek, right side heading to town. So much great fishing!!! Better luck next time with the Steelies!!!

I thought you could not fish for steelhead out of a boat as of last year. Hopefully I’m wrong

Good question. If the law states that disabled people can get a permit to do so.

Nice. Good for them. I just remember all the anger from ALL of us fishermen when they sprung that on us out of the blue last year. Never heard if it’s still in place. What a crock !!!

Oh man! You might want to consider a steelhead trip up here where I’m at. I can keep you up to speed on when they are here and all of the river guides limit out their clients for both salmon and steelhead pretty easy. Right now it’s “women with bait” time. That’s an annual event where all the guides take women only up the big salmon river specifically for B run Steelhead and it’s in full swing right now. I’d say the steelhead down there are long gone by now because the fish here are B run fish that came from there. 15 to 20 pounders. We catch truck loads of both runs of steelhead on the north fork of the Clearwater every year too. Drift fishing and spinners from the bank. That’s about an hour north of me. All of our waters are open to boat fishing for steelhead and everything else but some places are easier to fish from the bank.
Keep me posted and maybe plan a trip up here next year👍
