State to state it's interesting to me to see licenses.
In Washington it's a durable strip (like a receipt) that must be kept on person and, in many cases, filled out upon catch.
Here I see it's like a badge that must be exposed.
In Alabama it's something you print out on paper but you don't even need to keep it with you, they can look it up.

Oh wow 😲 I didn’t know it could change so drastically between the states!

In NJ you can print it out but you have to have it on you unless you want to get hassled, unlimited printing though. Florida can give you a durable plastic card and in PA i pay a little for a pin which the state says you shouldn't use as your license display but the Fish and Game don't bother you if you have one.

We're fortunate we don't need a license to go fishing in Hawaii.
After a certain age, you do not need a hunting or fishing license in Alabama. I think it is 65 but could be wrong. I bought a lifetime fishing license when they first came out back in the late 70's or early 80's for $100. I bought my son a lifetime license for one of his Christmas presents so he would never have to buy one later. I think they are $200 for a lifetime license now which is really reasonable especially if you're buying it at a young age. I think the combo lifetime hunting and fishing are $500, $300 for the hunting and $200 for fishing. I know the lifetime fishing license was a hard plastic card.
Great investment supporting the outdoors!
Where in pa will you fish?
I’ve fished lake nockamixon , northwest of philly.
Nice quiet place where there’s supposed to be big fish.

Likewise in the entire Northeast. CT requires an additional stamp if you fish waters with stocked trout. The fee goes to the hatcheries . Next year I will technically not need a license but even the license fee goes to fisheries and wildlife management so as a way of supporting the fishery I will likely still buy an annual license . It’s about the cost of respooling two trout rods with fluorocarbon. Less than I spend on breakfast, coffee, bait and gas for one weekend of fishing .
