Welcome to the Stage Birdnanni. It used to be an excellent Bass pond, but has gotten very weedy over the years. The launch "ramp "is very shallow, making it hard to launch a boat off a trailer. Kayak, canoe, or cartopper would be fun. The shore access is limited to around the ramp and along the dike on Barnes road. It used to be good around the islands in the springtime, the deeper water near the spillway was good in the summer. If you go, Good luck and don't forget to take pictures.

Bird... .Fred is spot on. Welcome to the Stage. Be very careful of the ice by the spillway if water is exiting the pond, it will be "wearing out" the underside of the ice mass there. Also lots of afternoon sun hits it during the warm afternoon hours due to southern exposure . Adds up to thin ice. Strongly recommend not going alone and at a minimum having ice spikes firmly ATTACHED to yourself somehow. Good luck. Be Safe. <nutz4fish>

If you go back & update your profile to list a location : just town and state, you wont need to title your posts so thoroughly in the future, will make it much easier to post. Wallingford is between Fredfish and I and I grew up in Meriden, so if that's your location one of us has probably fished most of the places you will want to try. Once we get going, you should learn how to use Private Mail resource here. It will come in handy, you'll see.Tell us more about yourself when you get a chance. Maxx
