Many of you have probably watched the movie "Rudy." The story is about a young man who wants to attend Notre Dame and play football. Is that really what the story is about?
IMHO, not even close. From the outset of the movie, Rudy's dream is put down by his father, brother, a Catholic priest, almost everyone he encounters except a good friend who dies in a steel mill accident. Rudy finally decides to pursue his dream, despite what everyone tells him, that he can't succeed. His own family puts the idea down. His girlfriend hooks up with his brother(classy, right?). When he is accepted at the school and makes the team, members of his family still doubt him being on the team. Nice family, huh?
My point is people will tell you a lot things. How to live. What you can and can't do. Even how to dream.
The question is, are you going to listen to them? Rudy didn't. Believe in yourself.

Good point G, I believe that's the subtext of the movie. You be You, and ignore the noise.
Goes right back around to what we all used to hear. That we can do whatever we put our mind to

That's one super inspirational film. I don't remember if it won any awards, but it sure got a lot of people thinking about self motivation.
Gmon G n everyone. Have a good day stay safe n follow your dreams. Have the courage to believe in yourself. 👍👍
Rudy is based on a true story. I’ve met the real guy. I would bet the movie sensationalizes the whole thing quite a bit.
Have you ever seen “The Blind Side” it’s about Michel Orr he was a tackle for the Ravens. Long story short he can’t stand the movie about him because it portrays him as knowing nothing about football. Sandra Bullock teaches him. Lol😂🤣😂🤣. In reality he lived football his whole life and studied it from a very young age. He know it could be his ticket out of poverty.

Movies are movies. I saw the real Rudy in a documentary and if I recall correctly, he said his family was very supportive. My post was about the message that was sent by people who you would hope would be the most supportive, your family and friends. Many times, they aren't.

I understood what your saying. Unfortunately it’s very true.
Just figured I’d add what I knew in case others didn’t. Rudy spoke to my high school football team in 1992. He was a really good speaker. Would have run through a wall after his talk.
Have a great day and I hope your on the mend!!
If you like yourself, no one but you can change you. Others will try, but it won't work. If you let someone else talk you into doing something that you don't want to do, then your letting them take control of your life. IMO
Jonestown comes to mind. That's where "Drink the Koolaid" comes from. BTW

You're right I mike was not really happy about the way they portrayed him. 👍👍

They portrayed him as a stupid kid from the ghetto. Who was saved by Sandra Bullocks character. His adoptive family was great and helpful in his progression. But you don’t become a first round NFL player without putting in a ton of work! He put in that and then some and the movie made it seem like it wasn’t his hard work that got him there. I’d be pissed too!
