When it comes to fishing, what is your good luck charm or idiosyncrasy that is a must to wet a line?

For me it's prepping the night before. Oh and i can forget getting a good nights sleep.

I can't think of any idiosyncrasies that I have before going fishing, competing, or coaching. I do have trouble sleeping before a fishing trip but not before a daily fishing trip. I just jump in the truck and go. A big match or a big meet, yea, a problem sleeping.

Seem to catch more fish when I wear my “Here Fishy, Fishy” shirt, even if it’s under other clothes. Huh Jeremy?

I'm with you on the preparation the night before. I decide what area/depth/conditions I'll be fishing to start the day, and preload the rods accordingly. Since I'm usually alone in my boat, I'm busy running the boat, and watching the fishfinder. I don't want to waste valuable time rigging rods on the lake. Obviously when conditions change, you make adjustments to your offerings. Other than that, just making sure I'll have what I need with me.

Fred my next store neighbor there in NC must have been a mind reader. Dang if he wasn't in my spot a few times. I would even leave earlier. He had a 100 yard advantage on closer to the river than i sometimes it was a paddle race.

Actually Fred had a thunder boomer sneak in one time and it was a real race between myself and the neighbor. Glad the wind was behind us.

Lost the race to him but beat the downpour and the lightning strikes.

Well that's what counts. I hate lighting on the water. It didn't bother me so much when I had the big boat on the saltwater, but in the aluminum boat, on freshwater, with a half dozen graphite rods, NO THANKS.

Know what you mean Bd. I have paddled out of my way to pick up and sometimes investigate what is floating at times.

Only once did i come across fishing line. Pulled and pulled hoping to reel in a rod or a monster. Snap, and never did find out. Fun for a few minutes with anticipation.

Have a good luck old beat up cap I wear. Night before get gear I need for where I'm going [pier, surf, pond] and decide what sammiches and drinks to bring. Oh, and if Hutch is coming, tell him to show up 20 minutes earlier so he'll get there on time.

Got to have the fishin cap or hat. Just ask Saw1. Food for the next day is always high priority. Then you leave it sit in the garage.

Not that i have ever done that. HaHa

Our musky fishing family had “coins”, silver, about the size of a silver dollar, made for us by an artist/girlfriend.Heads is our logo, tails is a musky. We flip them each morning of fishing to determine boat assignments and casting from middle or back of the boat. I just leave mine on the floor of the boat and when I need a change of luck I turn it over. Our coin works fine for the first part of this, I have no data to prove the last part works.
