I remember my grandfather telling me about the depression and how his father would chop wood all day for neighbors to earn a penny…and buy a day old cake at a bakery and that would be “ dinner” for 2 nights.
And my other grandfather telling how he would be hungry and there would be no food in the house and no way to buy any and what a scary time that was….i cant even imagine….we have no idea really how blessed and fortunate we are.

Blessed we are. We make light of having our cake and eating it too, but yet we sometimes never remember to give thanks for that cake.

This past Christmas, the dinner was here and before eating in this house we say a prayer. The DIL tells the kids to come to the table that we are going to say a prayer not that you kids know what that is.

So sad at that 10 & 11 year old are not being introduced to the Lord. I think they need to eat here more often.

I see ( or saw) my girls looking into a completely full pantry and complain that “ there’s nothing to eat”…i said…you have no idea what “ nothing to eat “ means…grab something and be thankful you have it….insert eye roll here.
