Well guys. Got out to the ocean bout 0730 and got the pots out bout 0745. Tide was still comin in so that was good.
Started off catchin a couple of keepers in our snares. Continued doin that for most of the morning.
We caught a ton of crabs that were just short of keepers, just barely.
Most of the crabs today were Dungies. We did keep 2 big Red Rock Crab and a few Rock Claws.
Ended up with 12 Dungies and the 2 Rock Crab so 14 keepers today.
The tsumani kept the tide comin in later than High tide. High tide was suppose to be around 9 . It was still pushin in around 1030.
When it turned it was racing out. Started around 11 and by 1130 the tide was movin so hard goin out that I think the crabs would have had a hard time goin against the current. We weren't catchin any with it movin that fast so we called it a day and picked up our pots and left.
The last pot we pulled probly had 24 Dungies in it and only 1 was a keeper.
Was a little breezy today and that caused a pretty good chop but nothing we couldn't handle.
Couple of pics before and after they were cooked.

Nice Job Guys! Looks like some tasty meals. We don't get tsunamis on the east coast, only storm surge from hurricanes, but you can see them coming.

One of the big claws that's on a Rock Crab. You are allow to take 1 claw off the crab if you want to and release them. The claw grows back and you don't kill the crab.
There isn't as much meat in the body of a Rock crab as there is in a Dungie. So we usually just throw the RCs back unless they are really big. Sometimes we just take 1 claw if they are pretty big and then throw em back.
No sense in killin em if you aren't gonna eat much more than their claws anyway.

I see . There is some other invasive species that need to be removed now in Pacific. That’s great if can take just the good claws.

Yeah, They can still eat with 1 claw.
One of the big Dungies I caught today didn't have either claw, it was missin both. Not real sure how well it was goin to be able to eat but we were goin to keep it anyway.

Good. Probably could barely eat stuff if up against its intake manifolds.

Maybe got broken off in the pot or fighting with other crab. They fight over the bait big time if crab get trapped for long period will kill each other.

Good job again guys. The photo for the cooked crabs looks just like the last batch you caught.
Glad the tsunami didn't ruin your day!

Yeah Gary, just less of them this time. We had 18 all together last time and only 14 this time.
