Does anybody in the Sarasota Florida area do this anymore. My name is Bob and I am just starting to fish in different ways and areas
Bob: I have no way of knowing, but if I were to guess, I would definitely expect there are. Now I doubt they are at this time of year. On the Gulf coast here in Texas it is an established sport and quire a few do it. Padre Island is 110 miles long and is a favorite place for gigging flounders since Laguna Madre is created by the island, it is a fertile hatchory for fish of all sorts.
Hang on and I expect you will get some responses from your area about gigging. Just Sayin...RJS
Thanks for your input Robert I will keep watching for other replies

Still do it in South Carolina. They are getting scares around here and SCDNR cut the back to 10 per person and 20 per boat. They are talking about lowering that also.

I don’t know about Sarasota, but Daytona area does. I was launching my boat at the inter coastal one time when a pro flounder gigger was leaving with 112 lbs of fish from the previous night.
