1/14/22 was just one of those days you wish and wait for on South Padre Island, Texas: excellent weather, temps in mid to high 70s, clear skies, crystal clear water, warm, mild surf and 9 MPH SW winds.
Made some new friends, caught a few whitings and a 21" speckled trout. Everyone caught something, mostly on shrimp; what more can you ask for, especially in January? (Maybe a shot of Tequila?)
This this group will certainly meet again! Brownsville Tony should have his new waders by then.
lft to rt Andy, Brownsville Tony, Hector Rodriguez, PadreBino and Eddie, taking pic
Tony with one of his whitings
Heavy traffic in the surf (double hit)
Andy lands his first whiting
Brownsville Tony is a believer in fishing being relaxing
PadreBino's 21" trout
Showing off the trout with Andy and Eddie

GREAT PICTURES !! AND better luck than a lot up north.
Wow! Lots of great pictures, and a terrific booster for South Padre Island in January. Perfect temperature and weather as compared to the ice and snow up north. Just Sayin...RJS

Yes, an amazing day. Maybe someday if you ever find your way down here, we can grow the group. Just don't make it during Spring break, the hard bodies would get in the way.
CT is a long way, but worth the trip!

I've been on outings with Brownsville Tony many times and look forward to knowing the new friends better....Andy, Hector and Eddie.
It appears we have a good representation of a varied senior group.

Thanks RJ, I left the Northover 50 years ago and never looked back, days like this remind me why.
The RGV is a wonderful place to retire unless you have to be near medical facilities, like Houston.
I come to visit MD Anderson about twice a year for check-ups. Maybe next time I come up we can share a cup of coffee; I'll bring the cannoli!!
