I’m planning a trip to Redding Calif I drove thru there in October and the water looks great. But I’m not sure what time of the year is best and i know nothing about what’s around down there
Has any one fished this area any information is great. Thank you for your help

Great place to fish. This time of year there should be Salmon, steelhead and lots of 15 to 20 inch rainbows.
You have to be at the right place to fish from shore. Getting a guide is the best way to go unless you have your own boat.
Balls Ferry is almost always good.
There are fish year around.

Jarhead is right on. The rainbow trout fishery from Redding to Red Bluff is probably the best in California. The fish are heavy and beautiful! Drift boat fly fishing or side drifting with bait are the tickets. This time of year trout are by far your best bet. You need to get a guide to fish this part of the river effectively. Check in with the Fly Shop in Redding. Their phone # is 800-699-3474, on 4140 Churn Creek Road, Redding.

We are looking at about late April for our trip

April and May are good months. Because of our drought the river should be lower than normal for this time of year. Good luck!

We are going with Kyncy guide services
