Stocked Bow fishing

I went to try and catch some stocked rainbows today and just brought home pepe!!
I did get to see an old friend who retired from the same place I did who just happened to come fishing at the time I was leaving. That was a nice surprise, so I did get do some "catching up" on old times lol

That made the trip worth while. I enjoy talking to old working partners.

Stocked trout stay schooled up for a long time when released. They seem to follow the bank as a school. I have taken the time to just sit and watch a couple local lakes, Lake Padden and Toad lake on opening day. Padden can be bank fished nearly all the way around. Watching rod tips is like watching dominos as the tips go down in progression. After a day or two, the fish seem to find favorite spots. Find the fish and you will get the bites. In a boat, if you get a bite or fish, troll right back through that same spot. Don't wait until you have reached the end of the lake or circled around the lake. Turn around immediately and the chances are good you will get hit again until the school moves on. I have often limited a boat trolling back and forth in 30 yards of water.

Cam I’m so happy for you that you got out fishing, and then to run into an old friend is icing on the cake. I’ve been laid up with covid all week so hopefully I’ll be able to get out by the next Rainbows stocking. Here’s the dates: 1/21, 2/4, 2/18, and 3/4. Maybe we can hook up. I’ll PM you when I get to felling better. You’re still in my prayers Brother.

Sorry to hear about your covid we had it in September, you are in my prayers also on 1/18 Lake Friendswood will be stocked. My work pard said he prefers that lake to most others and he fishes all the stockings around from Pearland to Katy. Let me know when you get better and we will get at them
