Thanks for the info bapa,I do like the idea of not targeting just one or two species,Think before I try Roosevelt I want a map of public/indian areas so I don't fish in the wrong spots. That could ruin a fishing trip real quick.

Roosevelt is a very popular place, so there are lots of maps. A reservation license is very reasonable. You might consider one and just not have to deal with any problems. I had a friend take me bank fishing once for fall trout. We picked up our Res. license and off we went. Wow !! The trout were the size of large pink salmon.

When I'm not fishing,I like to research fishing and recently came across some sites about Burbot(freshwater lingcod)A fish not often targeted but supposedly very tasty. In my research I've seen a few larger deeper lakes like Banks lake and Lake Chelan,Kachess and Cle Ellum have burbot.I'm looking for any information on techniques, bait, depth and good spots to fish for burbot.I have plans already to hit Banks lake in early May for walleye and bass around Jones bay by Steamboat Rock.Any pointers from my fishing brothers out here would be greatly appreciated.

I pick up a burbot occasionally using a bottom walker/worm trolling for walleye on the upper Roosevelt--Columbia River.

Do you have any recommendations for a good guide service that is willing to teach an experienced retired charter captain new to the area, basic safety issues and fishing techniques for walleye. I live on the west side, but would like to take the boat and RV over the mountains a few times a year when the place is not packed with salmon fishermen.
Thanks

Now thats a novel idea, hadn't thought about getting a permit, but all the territory it covers without worries would definitely make it worth the cost.Without one would cut off the whole South west end of the lake.

Get to add to this post, done a little more research and I think I read it right that if fishing from shore on reservation land a tribal permit is required but if fishing from a boat only a WDFW license is required. Gotta love the internet for being able to get information like this.
