Newbie, retiring soon

I fished when I was younger and interested in bass, crappie and trout.
I am a Technical Coordinator looking forward to retirement in about s year. Definitely want to get away from the tech world for the most part.
I’ve purchased an angler sit on kayak and fitted it with a mount for a minn kota trolling motor.

I do want to purchase a fish finder and the ones I’ve looked at the most are the Lowrance and Humminbird models, 3x5 as they appear to be the fit I need in between my legs on the raised area.

The cost to license the kayak was $38, not bad considering I can go about anywhere my troller will take me.

I hope to have my first outing in my kayak this week. I’ve got a few finishing touches to prep my rig for the water.

Wish me luck and I’ll post when I have some news and photos.

Hey williambs hang in there those retirement days are well worth the wait. Retired from the electronic field 2 years back and just purchased a kayak this past January and it was the best move fishing and financially. I am in NC and walk out the door to the dock climb into the kayak and with no motor noise creep right in there for some of the best fishing one could ever want. I didn't do the fish finder one never knows where they might be and with being able to go into the shallows not sure if the finder would be of any help. Tight Lines and Fish On.

I'm recently retired also. Spend a lot of time getting the rigs tied up right and organizing tackle, especially in the colder months of the year. I've trout fished most of my life, but am now broadening my horizions and fishing for different species (Walleye, Bass, Catfish, Salmon when I can, Perch, and will be fishing for Sturgeon this weekend). Enjoy your time in the outdoors and good luck!

Thank you for the responses whiskerknight, plumbob, and gla. Maybe I should have picked a more creative username? 😜 My Hope is to just enjoy the sport and be able take my beginning ability to a new level. I’m excited to get my kayak in the water and see how it performs. From what I’ve seen as posted in YouTube by other owners of this kayak, it does quite well with or without the troller. I’ve been working a side job the last several days after my regular job at the School District and hope to wrap it up tonight. I’ll be able to plan a fishing excursion onTruman Lake down here in central MO. I guess we’ve made national news with the Truman Lake damn being way over flood stage by some 30 feet. I’m hoping the fishing is primed on the lower side of the damn. They have had it open for a few days to release some pressure on the lake said.
The School District were I work is rural and serves a lot of farm families. Many of them are seeing their fields under water. I met one of my old neighbors leaving Walmart last evening with a couple fishing poles his wife and some bait to go fishing in his yard 🤪

You all have a great day of fishing and I’ll keep looking forward to joining ya real soon!
