California has had a lot of tax on gas since forever, and it used to work out for us. We had great roads, they fixed the potholes, and even construction detours were always paved.

Then they "reallocated" that money into social programs (which is just a sneaky way of buying v**es). Then they came back to us v**ers saying that there wasn't enough money to take care of the roads, and managed to get an additional tax on fuel. So now, we're paying double road tax on our gas and I'm still not seeing much done to improve our roads. And now they're talking about putting a device on your car that tracks how much you've driven and charge you by the mile for using the roads. You can bet your A$$ that'll be in addition to the gas tax, and not instead of it!

I love the climate here, but I'm just about ready to pull up roots and go!

All very true. This is “factual” information except #5 is half what it really is for a standard vehicle. It cost me $75.00 for a half a tank of diesel the other day. Thanks Brandon.

We keep our horses healthy and ready to go and I bought a nice, covered, buggy. Gonna be like little house on the prairie here pretty soon if Brandon keeps helping us out. One guy I know (our feed guy at the ranch) is making wood gas. Not sure how that works but he burns wood and catches the residue (oils) off of it and has it piped into the fuel system on his motor home. Downside is he has to stop to build the fire in the fire box on the back. Takes about the same amount of time as it does to stop and charge up an electric vehicle (about an hour). It doesn’t produce as much power as gas but it moves his little motor home.

#9. In Oregon they have what they call “mini service”. That’s where you can’t pump your own fuel but you have to check your own oil, wash you own windows and empty your own trash if you have any while the gas station attendant, making $15.00/hour stands there watching you and texting their friends. If you want your windows washed you have to go to the Shell station where gas is 10 cents a gallon more.

Sounds like a forthcoming fire trap in his motor home. I hope not, but that’s my first thought.

Lawn care is $95.00/hour now. What happened to mowing your neighbor’s lawn for a buck and a glass of lemonade?

Barnacles, I don’t know how anyone can continue putting up with the California government. They’re robbing y’all blind and it costs a fortune to live there. I have relatives there and I don’t know how they can tolerate it much longer. There’s other places with nice climates that won’t cost you a fortune to live there. I just don’t get it. Our climate sucks in the warmer months but the cost of living here is awesome. I won’t live anywhere else. Sorry Barnacles you have to go through that.

He’s got it set up pretty safe looking. Wind diverted around the fire box and a foot of air space all around. He don’t move when the fire is going and he has a water tank installed above the fire box to make sure all the hot coals are out before he moves it. The only time he uses the fire box on the back of the motor home is if he’s on a long trip and runs low on fuel. Otherwise he has a wood gas burner set up at home (which is just outside of his motor home because his home is the motor home). It’s 50 feet away from the motor home and most of his wood gas is collected there for use. He just dumps the wood gas in a 10 gallon reservoir on top of the motor home that gravity feeds his fuel system. Pretty unique actually but I probably wouldn’t go through the trouble myself. I could walk a long ways in the amount of time it takes to produce liquid fuel from a wood fire. He said he can go about 20 miles on a quart of it. I think he meant a quart of it adds 20 miles to his fuel consumption because it’s got a valve that drips the wood gas directly into the fuel line coming from his gas tank. I’m just not sure how it all comes together but he swears by it. It looks, kinda, like his fuel line has an I-V line hooked into it. Lol.
The situation going on right now in Virginia would be the perfect place to have one set up. All it takes is tree branches to operate and the greener the better sounds like.

Needed to fill up today and the second cartoon is so true. If prices keep going up, it will be a $100 bill for a tank of gas and I live in Oklahoma where gas prices are better than most states.

Dozer spent $130.00 the other day filling up and my diesel is ALWAYS over $100.00 to fill a 35 gallon tank from 1/4 tank. I’ve put $140.00 in it before. That’s good for about 500 miles. So $140/week is average for me.

Is he an engineer or scientist? He sounds very intelligent to come up with something like that.
