In Ohio they run a year from the date you purchase your license. You never pay for more than you get that way. Only issue is remembering when you bought yours to make sure it’s renewed.
Got a lot of updates to take care of.

Iowa licenses are good till the 10th of January, but I picked up my lifetime hunting fishing combo and habitat last week. $110 for 65 or older. Still have to buy the extras, 3rd pole, trout, deer and turkey.
Life time licenses here also. You can get both fishing and hunting as long as you turn 65 before the end of the license year

Some years back (both here and in N.H.) your license was good for the calendar year (Jan. through Dec.), so the earlier you bought it the better !
Since then, they have both changed
and are good from date of purchase
to the same date a FULL year later !
(No more getting short-changed !)
Also (here in Arizona), you had
to buy your trout stamp and/or
two-pole stamp separately, which totaled around $51.00 - now it is
all-inclusive for only $37.00 !
We also had a separate license for
Community Lakes/Ponds, which
cost about $24.00 (?) extra - this
year it was rescinded and the
state license covers it all !

I don't get why you would think that !
They are REDUCING the price of licenses and giving better value by making them all-inclusive for the same (or just a slightly higher) price !
Fish & Game departments are usually run by their respective states, but many are on tight budgets, so are often dependent on licenses and/or
fees to help run their departments
and help make improvements in
their states' hunting and fishing environments !

I say that because it's true people have to pay add on prices for this or that and how can you say the prices are going down they must have really been sticking it to ya I don't think our fishing licence has ever gone beyond like $15.00 and that's it seniors $2.00 no add ones and the Wildlife and Game over stock every year the fishing is tops of course we have size regulation and bag limits but no one's complaining life is good fishing's CHEAP. 🇺🇸🎣✌😀👍
