Starting the new year right

Nothing like bringing in the new year fishing! It was cloudy, warm and windy here in the East Texas piney woods on New Years Day. We started our day at first light on the lake. Graphing a couple spots we located a good school of crappie and boated some. Once that bite fated we began searching for largemouth. After catching some nice chunks the bite slowed into a grind. We kept moving and as the morning passed the clouds final broke enough to reveal the sun. As the got lower the bite got better and so did their size. Tight lines and Happy New Year!

Thanks, for sharing, Hog, that is at least a start for the new year. I always use to make it a point to fish trout on Jan. 1, the opening day. But, we had a high of +8 yesterday, so I let it pass.

We just got our first snow of the season. Got frozen pipe from the cold. I donโ€™t like the frozen pipe but we do need the moisture.

I spent today, and will spend the next three days drying my shop from frozen pipes. I live a mile from the coast in Western Washington. What gives. I wintered here over 30 years and never thought about frozen pipes. What the he!!. Maybe I should move back to Alaska. Happy New Years all.
