How many of you all go by the farmers almanac when it comes to fishing? How accurate do you find it?

Good question, going to watch this one.
My grandfather went by it. I don't even look at it any more. Doesn't seem any more accurate than the daily weather or news. Farmers must not have any input on it anymore 👍👍

Good mornin', Ct, welcome to the Forum. Well,,,, it sets in the rack by the john but I can't say I go by it if I thinking about going fishing. I just go fishing. If I'm down on the Gulf, I'll look to see the tide times, but up here in MN. the tide doesn't affect Crooked Creek much.
I think the Almanac is basically the same a any Solunar Calendar. Better to be on the water when you can than try to schedule with a Calendar.

Doug I've tried that best day n time calendar in my fishing magazine. It may be accurate somewhere but I never had great luck following it 👍👍
I know it showed poor for this morning but I came anyways and they are biting here in Arkansas

Again can't believe everything you read. Fish n wildlife don't read the book. Have a good one cowtaxi🎣🎣
I use it - mostly to tell others what it says! Had a vet that swore by it for castrating horses!! Haven’t used it for fishing, but fun to read!!

Bet the horse didn't agree with it. It's not our grandfather's almanac
I skim through it online every morning. Has some useful tidbits and occasional funny! Wouldn't plan my day by it tho.

I look at it plus the tide book if I’m going to the coast but I won’t swear by it OFA

Welcome Ct, my neighbor for the past 10 years over on the White River between Flippin and Bull Shoals was raised on property over at Alpena and is talking of moving back there as his property on the river is getting to be a little to much as we age. Funny story about Harrison is that back in the late 60's my grandfather had the opportunity to purchase the property that was Dogpatch USA and is now being talked about being developed by Jonny Morris. It had a working trout farm on it with the big spring they say originates from Jimmy Creek area of Bull Shoals lake. It was 1800 acres of property that he could have bought for $18,000. He passed on the opportunity that could have turned out to be a pretty good investment, but that was a lot of money back then. I also am in process of giving my property up on the White which I will miss using but a person can only fight things for so long before we get worn out.
Hope you enjoy the background story a little and yes you are best off just getting out and fishing, weather permitting, not worrying about the almanac, as you have the best fishing in the world near you for trout and so many other species.
