Was fishing in local lake today with no noteworthy catches but what made the day was a common loon. Assured it’s not a big deal for those in Minnesota, Wisconsin or Maine but it’s fairly rare down here in Pa.

It may have migrated South from MI and got relocated by the recent storms?

Did take a pic but one couldn’t determine what it was Steve with my lousy cell phone and so didn’t post. It was too far away but saw it in my binoculars which are a constant companion in my truck.

Very cool sighting BK! If it's "OK", I'll pinch hit for you with something from my archives. This comes from the far Western reaches of Michigan's Upper Peninsula...last Summer in the Sylvania Wilderness park system while kayaking for bass and pike.

I know what you mean bout pics from your cell ph. I guess they're ok for takin pics up close but takin pics from afar really suck.

That’s a beauty of a picture FK. Remember some encounters with them in Canada but never that close. Simply an incredible bird.

Sorry, meant to say FY. I’ve got to get in the habit of reviewing my posts. My fat fingers are not much for precision while hitting the keyboard.

Caught a snicker from that D Tong, my wife uses that expression quite a bit when dealing with me.

I see them in the bays here on the south shore of Long Island every winter.
