Anyone have the Striker Vivid 4cv portable fish finder? Does it work well? Does it have internal battery?

I bought one recently. Works like any other fishfinder. The clearvu (cv) thing is a marketing exaggeration. The pictures they show of clearvu in their ads are bogus. You don't get that kind of clarity. At least not with this unit. Maybe more expensive ones are good with this downscan/high frequency technology. But not this one.

But as a regular 77/220 sonar, it's pretty good, considering the price. That's how I use it. In a split frequency mode, like I would any other sonar that has no clearvu (or 455/800) capability.

It has no battery. I'm not sure if cv model has the portable option with a bag and battery like the regular Striker 4 does. At least that's what I bought, just a bare unit with transducer.

If that's what you get, you can buy a small Cabela battery and it would last 10+ hours. Maybe more. The battery costs $20. Not sure about the cost of a charger as I had one already.

Thanks. I already have a battery and my larger garmin which has clear vu agrees with your assessment. May be the emperors new clothes. Just need a fish finder for my kayak.

A motorcycle battery can be purchased quite cheap, are leak proof and can be charged with a regular car charger. Some are only 5 inches square or smaller.
