Hello everybody. Wanted to join the conversation, great chat, advise and humor, not to mention my favorite part, the fish porn! Anyway, learning to fly fish with varying degrees of success. When things don’t go so well I grab my spinning set up and chuck some lures(much better success rate!).Such was the case yesterday in Deckers, Co.

Welcome to the Forum! The Decker region is spectacular! I know what you mean about how fly casting is sometimes just not the most "efficient" way to cover certain types of water without being quite a chore! If the "method" of fishing becomes a huge task...then the fun factor goes down.

Fly casting can be very restricting unless there is room to work the water...and safe conditions to do it in. Some of those Colorado streams can be treacherous to wade...and hard to navigate via a boat...so you are left fending from shore or being able to just step in the water enough to make a cast or bring a fish to hand!

Keep at it as far as developing your skills, and then you will be able to choose when and where it can work best!

Nice catch on that plump rainbow! Terrific photos!
