I have a 2021 Lowe L1240, 12 foot johnboat. It is powered by a 2021 mercury 9.9 hp, four stroke motor. I bought it from a Vietnam veteran who had only used it twice and the motor had one hour of use.
I knew I would have to do something to the little aluminum boat to make it more comfortable and increase its fish-ability. I studied YouTube for a long time and then began to put in floors and a small front storage deck, all covered with CVA Camo foam. I then installed some stainless steel rod holders for transport on the water and some Stealth rod holders for trolling on my local Ozark lakes.
I am not a builder and have never been skilled with my hands. I don’t even understand the issues of how to build things, so I followed instructions found on YouTube. It was real trial and error!
Yesterday I was loading my boat onto the trailer at the boatramp on Bull Shoals Lake, when another boater came down to me and said, “Wow! I really like your John boat. You did a great job on building it. I would love to have a little boat like that.”
That made me feel so proud. I thought I would share my little project with you to encourage someone else to do something they do not feel capable of doing. I guess all things really are possible! It just takes time, patience and money!

BT. That's a good job you done on that boat. And you even got some fish slime on it also. Thanks for your story and the pics.

Thanks Henry, it's been through a couple different designs. It started as a bay boat that I used on L.I.S., for Bluefiish, Flounder, and Stripers. Kinda a baby Bass boat now.

Almost took it across the sound to Mattituck harbor in NY. the first year I had her. Was out fishing 6 Mile Reef, just after dawn one summer morning. The sound was mirror flat. Wasn't sure I'd make it on the 6 gallon original tank. The following year I put in the 15 gallon belly tank, and a VHF radio. Never saw another day with the water that calm, in the 10 yrs I had it down there. Oh Well.

Nice rig Beaver, I've got seats like that in my 12' river boat, they're low enough so you're rig isn't top heavy
