Beautiful Day on the Lake, but...
It was a beautiful day on Grand Lake today with temperatures in the mid 70's. My wife joined me and helped me get the boat ready for a day of fishing. Turned everything on before launching and batteries, oil pressure, and fluid levels showed good on the panel. Got the boat in the water, hit the start button and nothing, the crank battery was completely dead. Got the boat back out of the water and now have it charging. Both of us were pretty bummed, me more than her because I probably should have had it charging since I have not had it in the water for over two weeks. Had the battery kill switch off while not using and the electronic batteries where at 90 percent, so not sure what happened with the crank battery. Live and learn.
Set of jumper cables in the future?
I keep my boat batteries on solar charger while not in use just so I don’t have that issue they are very inexpensive just so you know keep positive and keep fishing 🎣 just saying

Yes, they definitely didn't do me any good back home in the garage!

Thanks D Tong! I had never thought about a solar charger, and after looking on Amazon, will be on my wish list for Christmas!

I carry jumper cables in my boat. Not just for my benefit but for the benefit of others…🐟on

Where did you get the charger? I would like to get one. Thanks for information.
Portable Lithium battery jump start. Around $80 on Amazon. Never go out on my 19' without it. We Jumped a V8 Corvette once in a parking lot. The guy couldn't believe it! Hell I couldn't believe it.
Thanks again for the information.

Thanks Bigbum! That is another excellent option for me to add to the Christmas wish list.

I have a small solar panel from Harbor Freight on the shelter that I park my boat under. I have to remember to plug it in to the connector that I wired into the boat, but it keeps the battery charged and it can't make enough energy to do the battery any harm.
Here's the one that I have:

Happened to me not that long ago. Battery was OK - thumb screw connection not so good. Shame on me.

Hi John, good to hear from you! I checked the connections yesterday and everything seemed tight. The crank battery was at 100 percent a little over two weeks ago, so a little confused as to why it was completely dead since it is less than a year old and the other batteries for the electronics were good. Fishing for LM is still good on Grand, though nothing big. Lots in the two to three pound range using a green pumpkin (plain, red flake, green flake, combination of red and green) 5" senko. Take care and hope we can catch up the next time you are out here.
