Hello from river valley Arkansas,

I retired this year, and my wife and I escaped California to N West Arkansas. Most of her family has settled in the general area over the years, and I knew this would be a great affordable place to spend retirement. I pretty much gave up on fishing in Cali over a decade ago, but can't wait to find some good holes here. We enjoy catching and eating most river and lake species, especially catfish.
I also enjoy guns and shooting, and can't wait to set up my reloading room with all of the equipment that was gifted to me by an old friend in Cali. I may even start hunting again.
We don't own a boat at this time, but still have our two Tarpon 120 kayaks and a travel trailer.
So far, we love it here, and just want to assimilate with other conservative folks, and enjoy the nature and freedoms that have largely been lost in Cali. Hopefully, others moving here from out of state will appreciate it, and do their part to preserve it.
Thanks for having me,

Donn

Thanks Fredfish.
I'll have to learn the pic posting process here. The only other forum I'm a member of is the Coleman Collectors Forum, and I have to learn how to use that one as well since they changed the format since I've been active.

Yes! I've managed to stay up a little later, but haven't even been able scratch the surface on sleeping in. LOL

Been retired 5 years next month and the up early is still programed in my body. Much prefer starting early and coast through the afternoons and settle down early evenings. Who knows what the next 5 years will bring God willing.

Just take it one day at a time OldSoul, hope you like your new location. I just moved back to Maryland after leaving here 16 years ago and lived in NC. I miss the availability to fish at the drop of a hat, but don't miss the bugs and hurricanes.

Welcome to FS, Donn!
Beaver Lake is a beautiful place to fish, with very clear water. Lots of pretty country around you with rivers and streams. The White River is a good one…

Donn: I am not familiar with any fishing in Arkansas but know there are good places.

I recommend you Google the state's game and fish commission and look for their current fishing report. That is a good starting place. If you can find Fishing forum, you can also benefit from AR Game and Fish Comm. reports. Just Sayin..RJS

Thanks for the hearty welcome everyone. I'll probably wait until next month to get my fishing license, only a month left in the year at this point, and we still haven't finished unpacking everything from the move. I like your idea RJS. That'll be part of my early morning net surfing w/coffee.
Above is the only fish pic I could find on this laptop. A vintage pic of my late father-in-law & a Striper that I assume came from the California delta. Just wanted to try posting a pic, and it was easy. Have a great, what is this, Wednesday?

Same deal. Been off the job since July 2004 and still wake up most mornings at 0530 or 0600.
