FYI my daughter-in-law walks her dog on the ocean beach in Sea Bright, NJ most mornings since Labor Day. To date she has picked up at the tide line nine practically brand new lures. including a Sabile which I think are very expensive. Double check your knots flow anglers!

Thank goodness for lures that float!
We used to find a lot of Luhr Jensen "J-Plugs" back in the day when they were super popular for salmon trolling along the shores of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The hook set up went thru a small hole in the body and would detach if a fish broke off. The body would find it's way to the waters edge and "bingo" free tackle! Sometimes you would even see them bobbing way off shore while you were fishing, and just veer over to scoop them up!
Kind of like finding lost golf balls around the perimeter of a golf course! Recycling...and putting something back into use!
It is KNOT the fishes fault if it lets go. So it sounds like you get discount fishing lures Major.

It’s pretty amazing, to me, just how many folks try to just tie a square not in their fishing line and wonder why everything breaks off all the time..

Quite often, when I have hooked up or in some way snagged another fisherperson's old discarded line/lure, I am amazed at the peculiar knot ties I have seen. My favorite one is the obvious use of half a dozen "granny" knots..."That aught a hold'em"....maybe just one more for safety...make it seven!

Here is the best knot sit around. NetKnots on the bottom of the page.
Not just the knot, but the line itself. If you fish around cement pilings, rocks, or one the bottom with garbage, your line might get a nick in it. I find a lot of lures in trees, with strings attached. The ones I find in the bushes could be from someone cutting their line, because of a huge wasp nest, or a snake, sunning himself. Either way, make sure to check.

Jack, Thanx for this referral. Best knot site I've seen yet. Great two color contrasting illustrations in line to line section. Pictures expand easily on my tablet. Highly satisfied.
