So I've only ever fished for catfish and I want to try bass fishing what sort of lures or bait are good for bass fishing?

Many people swear by crankbaits, but I love plastic worms for bass

This may be hard to answer, how do you throw them? Do you let them sink and twitch them around? I'm also really new to bass fishing

You can “twitch” it if your on a stationary boat or on a pier (jigging).

If you’re casting it, this is the rig I use (Texas rig). Cast it out and reel back slowly, keep your rod level and raise it up intermittently while slowly reeling the lure back in.

Rubber worms and a topwater bait. Get good with them and they’ll be all you need. I use a 8” Black Grape worm and a Baby Torpedo exclusively and have placed third or better in over 25 Tournaments

This all depends on where and under what conditions you are fishing for the bass. Is this river or lake? Is the water clear of stained? Is the water deep or shallow? Do you pay attention to when the bass feed? Have you talked to others who have fished the area you want to fish?

I fish a lake that I have fished for about 35 years. Each year conditions are a little different. To date this year every bass I have caught has been in shallow water along the shore line. I have caught about 30 bass and they have all been caught on top water lures. Pulled most of them out of grass and off wood along the banks. As best you can pay attention to the natural forage the bass hit. Try to get lures that imitate it in shape and color. Good luck!!
