As I was talking to a friend who is an experienced angler I showed him a picture of a lmb I caught and told him how I cooked it up. totally legal where I live as long as they're a certain length. he couldn't understand why I would ever do that. I cook the catfish pan fish trout and bass that I catch. curious on your opinions on eating bass.

I eat what I catch because I like em and they’re good for ya. People say “be careful eating fish from certain places because of the contaminants in the water”. Then they go get a big Mack, fries and a large processed sugar drink from Mc Ds. without giving a second thought to all the crap they’re eating there.🤷‍♂️

I eat bass all the time and like them. They aren’t quite as tasty as crappie, cat, or bluegill, but still not bad. They are also my target species most of the time, so I catch more of them than any others.

Folks treat them like special fish that should all be released. if I catch one that is legal size and I have enough other fish will release but if I need it for dinner that night I keep it and cook it.

This one was lucky we were fishing a striper derby and threw him back.

On the occasion I catch a nice bass I keep and cook it. I think bass is at the top of your list of favorites but everything you listed is good eating.

Yes I find them better to eat than most other fish, easy to fillet, skin and bone so out of the pan and eat without fear of bones and tasty if done right and not overcooked like I see a lot of people do.

LOL I seldom keep the dish I catch but I do not hesitate to eat them when I do.

Unless I injure a freshwater fish, I release it, don't really like to eat 'em, except walleyes. I do harvest stocked trout for friends, but that's about it. SW, Blackfish/Togs, I never pass up eating them.
Choice is an individual decision, and I don't try to impose my ideas on anyone.

😆 that's a good response, I've never had bass or pan fish such as crappie, sunnys or any of those simply because I never caught any big enough though I will someday when I get some good ones

I clean and eat what I catch (assuming their within the creel limits). Bass are great fun to catch, and pretty good eating. Crappie, perch, to me are a bit better, bluegill OK; and some fresh-caught catfish fried-up is like culinary nirvana.

If it's legal and you want to keep it then your in your right. My rule of thumb is never keep more than you can use or a meal. I may have 2 or 3 meals in the freezer. I generally catch and release but i will keep a meal of crappie or walleye on occasion. I never keep bass but thats just me. Largemouth seem to be on that list of fish that it's taboo to keep . No different than any other species. As long as you use your head and follow the laws I don't think keeping one every now and them will hurt. May even help certain lakes.
