Finally got someone to come along for a trip and get some pics!
One landed for the day last Saturday
31" Hatchery buck, very nice fish!
We released him as the number are so low this year, enjoy the pictures!

That had to be a blast! Nice sized fish and a ton of energy to boot I'm sure! This is a great time of year to be after them! Glad you got into one!

Great looking steelie Johnston89! Sorry to hear the population is down. Caught many on the St. Joe River in MI back in the day. Haven’t had the chance since I moved South though. Thanks for the pics and stirring my memory.😎

A hatchery fish ? As well as being a BUCK ?
To each his own, but that Steelie would have been heading to my grill or smoker, had it been me.

Congrats on a beautiful catch. What lure/bait were you using ?

You are lucky. All the rivers around here are still blown out just below flood stage. Last week, the salmon were swimming across several flooded roads.

Beautiful fish. I'm in the same boat as bapabear. Salmon in the trees! Gunna hit some local lakes instead. Thanks for the pics....nice.

To each his own is right

With our number being less than 10% of what they were when my dad starting steelheading, I'd rather catch and release hopefully someone else will hook into him this season or next

Steelhead aren't predetermined to die after spawning and can return to ocean and back to river multiple times in their lives

I was fishing a Blue Fox #3 in Blue/Chrome
That's blue body and silver blade

Thanks, I'll make sure to have one or two in my (always growing) arsenal.
