The one who has a good career potential.
What are you fishing for?
Hi , Try Mercari or Ebay for reels. My husband prefers older Shakespeare reels. Vintage, but they work just fine. No bells, no whistles, no technology! They just do what a reel is supposed to do.
Pablo: I haven't bought a new spinning reel in years. What I expect is most large discount stores would be able to fix You up with several choices. I would want to know their warranty policy for whatever reel I bought. If for any reason it malfunctioned they would allow you to return it. Just Sayin...RJS
I suggest you look at Daiwa Black Gold reels. Super smooth, tough and available in a lot of different sizes. Runs a little over $100. I gave up on Penn reels many years ago when I had repeated bail failures that Penn couldn’t fix.

I agree with Sari. A lot depends on what you are using it for. Salt or fresh large capacity or small. I just bought my second Daiwa BG (Black Gold) reel for surf fishing. They are great for the price. The Penn Spinfisher is sealed better but costs substantially more and is heavier for the sizes.

I just bought a Penn Battle III spinning reel at Bass Pro Shop in Round Rock Texas. I put 20 lb braided Spider line on it. $129 for the reel.
I have a Daiwa BMGQ 4000 that I love. Very first cast, 6 foot retrieve and I tied into what I believe to have been a 40 inch snook. After two long runs his gill plate must have parted the leader about 2 inches below my leader to braid knot. Was using a 22-24 inch leader so I figure the distance between his lip and gill plate was somewhere in the 20 inch range. Could have been an oyster bed or something else that parted the line. All I know is that fish was hiballing it when he broke off. The drag on this reel is smoother than silk, so is the winding mechanism.
I'm partial to Shimano Stradics, but Shimano keeps upping the price and removing features. The last one I bought doesn't have a reverse lever. I would not have bought it had I known that. Not sure about their new ones, but I haven't found any competitors that will outspin Shimanos with their superior bearings. I go into Bass Pro and spin the handles on the various reels. The Shimanos always spin much longer than any of the competition. I'd look at their Ultegra spinning reels. Tackle Warehouse has them for $150 to $170. I like a light reel so I buy 1000s. They're small, but I've landed 8lb bass with them and they don't wear out your wrist from casting all day.
I fish primarily in saltwater and have a batch of Penn reels that have stood the test of time with no problems. I appreciate the comment about Shimano from WoodNfish. Shimano does think right highly of their wares. If will be interesting to see if my newer Penns give me the service the older ones continue to provide. So far so good
