Since we're focused on Veterans, I have some sad news to report. Max Cleland passed away recently. He was a triple amputee due to battlefield injuries. He later served his country again as the Director of the Veterans Administration. In that capacity, he was instrumental in making P T S D a recognized and treatment worthy condition and pushed the VA Health System to get serious about ways to mitigate it's negative impact on our affected Veterans. He faced incredible opposition, up to and including an insulting appearance before the Senate Armed Services Commitee. But he was a bulldog , never giving up and he finally prevailed. His other public service is a matter of record and can be found on any major search engine like Yahoo, Google, Wikipedia, et al.
I would suggest taking a few minutes to see what this American hero and wonderful human being was all about, as there is too much to get into here.
