RickSr: Welcome to the Forum, you have come to the right place. We have over 51,000 members and a lot of experience, lore, and willing to help new comers.

I have never fished for bass in Florida. However, I understand that guides take clients to catch large bass, will use large minnows in and around patches of lily pads. I do not know if goldfish are allowed, but if they are, this might be a real temptation. If you are financially able, hire a reputable guide to take you for a trip. It will be both educational and rewarding. Ask a lot of questions and you will be amply rewarded! Just Sayin....RJE

Um I would advise getting a guide your first time there. My understanding those guides use live gizzard shad around 10-12 “ in length, and some even use balloons kinda like a bobber. My understanding is that live bait is the way to go in Florida for giant largemouth.....Now I’m not a live bait fisherman , and I know there is grass in those lakes, so use lures you would normally use when bass fishing in / around grass. I would suggest bigger plastic swimbaits, at least 5” length , with an owner flashy swimmer
or similar type set up..Also, ask your guide pre trip about artificials , if you hire one...best of luck ! Send photos if possible....My 2cents

Welcome to the Forum, Rick Sr., sorry, I'm not a bass fisherman. I'm thinking about starting.

I have caught my biggest 2 largemouth bass with a YUM 9" pumpkin color worm. Also use a #4 offset worm hook with it. @ bass were 8 lb. 4 oz and 8 lb.7 oz. used a hand held digital scale so take it for what it's worth. Also caught during late spawn.

Hopefully your fishing in a boat. And never having fishfisd these lakes i recommend hiting a guide for at least one day. Live wild shiners are often used and the old reliable plastic worm is always good.

Big worms, like 10 inches, green pumpkin, June bug, and even black T-rig. Another way, check out Dean Rojas record of 45 lbs. fishing beds for big mamas.
