I have not had many days this year when I was skunked but today I could not even get a nibble. I think the season is about over for me here in Central Indiana. I did run across something interesting today (see picture) I found this rig set up and no one was anywhere in sight. I left it as I found it but thought it was a bit strange. The line was out but if anything took what ever was on the other end there was nothing to keep the rod from being pulled into the lake

Maybe one of them giant Hoosier turtles come up out the water and ate him up? We got no gators. We got worse. You know what I'm referring to? If not, check out "the beast of Busco" on Wiki.

Hey Papa. I thought that was a pic of YOUR rig and I was thinkin the same thing.
I've seen rigs take off more than once when left like that.
NOT mine however. The only time mine might be like that is if I'm standin right there watchin it.

Nice of you to leave it though. Hopefully the owner realizes it’s missing in tome to retrieve it.

A few years back while fishin one of the rivers up in Tahoe I found a really nice, fully loaded Orvis Flyfishin vest. I think it even had an extra reel in it. Walked up[ to the highway and hung the vest on a road sign. I went back fishin that section of the river probly 3 or 4 times a week and that vest stayed there for nearly 2 weeks. Finally one day it was gone. I have to admit that more than once I felt like stopping and sayin "Thanks " for a nice vest.

I've come across that a couple of times. one freshwater (trout pond) and one salt (Florida keys). Both rigs were still there when I returned the next day. I secured them in my truck and left a note in a baggie with my contact info. The trout guy contacted me 3 days later and I returned his gear to him (his son forgot to pick it up) never heard anything from the saltwater guy (2 years ago) his gear has been cleaned and stored in the shed.

Thats strange isnt it…i mean you go with your gear , you leave with your gear…..after surf fishing for a while i cant think of any possible reason to leave with out everything you walked on the beach with. You can only carry so much and its not like its hard to see when you leave.

well, fly fishing at the west branch of the Penobscot, took off my Orvis fly jacket and hung it on a branch to dry out. packed up the camper, put out the fire, secured everything. when I got home realized I never retrieved my jacket. called the camp ground to have them check, nope gone. I was only 48 then.
