Went fishing at some local stocked streams about 7 times last year, currently out for my 2nd time this year. I have yet to catch a trout! I’m so discouraged. I use light gear, 4 lb test line, powerbat and salmon eggs. I usually go to the spots within 1-3 days after it’s been stocked, I swear it feels like they’re not actually stocking any fish in the places I’ve been going here in SW Virginia. Anyone got any good advice or some tips before I just quit all together!? Lol thanks for letting me rant!

Don’t quit mountain, the best is yet to come. Sounds like you’re doing it right with your line and terminal gear. Maybe try some spinners such as rooster tails, Mepps, panther martins etc. For example, I was out for trout the other day and they were crushing 2” Keitech. Yesterday I couldn’t buy a bite on that same lure, switched over to pink powerbait….they turned on.
Weather fronts will also dictate fish to shut down or turned on.
Light amounts have to be considered.
You can spook trout if you can see them, they can see you. Good camo recommended.
Power bait works floating from the bottom, "eggs" do better in moving water.

Right ON Pixiedog!
Your answering a "FS Digest" and you are right on the money.
Number three is absolutely true. You can also spook them moving (Walking) around in the water.

Where in SWVirginia are you fishing? I lived in Abingdon for 16 years. Caught a lot of trout in Damascus. Try big night crawlers with a small weight about a foot above your bait. Allow your bait to bounce off the bottom. Also you can try some small crappie minnows. Hook them through the mouth and do the same with the weight and bouncing off the bottom. I’ve talked to some friends in Abingdon, they are saying that the water is real low. It’s hard to catch trout in low, clear water. Try fishing some of the bigger rivers that the trout streams feed in to.
Good luck and keep trying. If you want to know where I fished, just let me know.
