I can either buy a black widow G50 on offer, or a D Carp for the same price which should i get. It will be an all purpose rod for carp, light bit of pike and other course fish.

I think surf rods and carp rods are really pretty much the same but surf rods will resist corrosion better. Check out Okuma or Daiwa Surf rods too.
