wilderness systems A.T.A.K. 120 kayak
I am planning on buying a new kayak primarily for fishing the high alpine lakes with no ramps and swift changes in weather.
I have read about the ATAK 120's and wish to know more about this kayak from people who own, or have used them.

I have a 120 ATAK this was my sixth season . I previously had a Ride 115, the ATAK paddles and tracks very well. The seat is great I have a bad back and can do river trips for 8 hours with no problems. Has room for a Wilderness crate in the back and room to haul my kayak cart. I have my fish finder mounted on the lift out pod in the front this way you can take the finder, battery and transducer off as a unit. If you would like pictures send me your email and I would be happy to share them.

BE Careful Gene. Hafe fun. If you like riding bicycles and fishing just remember a Kayak is an elite Canoe. Must keep from tipping at all times. I would figure you would enjoy a 17 ft Fishing boat the most. 40 footers are ball too but need big water. Be SAFE. I have white water rafts and some small inflatables but they are for 1 to 3 people and stay level on there own.
Hi Jeremy, I suggest you read the comment on atak 120 stability submitted by another member in this segment.
Thanks

I haven’t owned or used one but I just took a look at em. They look like a good sturdy rig that sits solid in the water. There’s lots of places you can’t launch a boat that sure look like great fishing spots here in Idaho. I’m gonna do some more research on those things. $1500.00 don’t sound too bad for a quality kayak like that. I have a nice boat but I’ve found lots of places I can’t use it. A good kayak would be awesome.
Think about this: no boat ramps equal virtually no boats. Potential quality of fishing experience can be absolutely excellent. This is why in a first season of kayak fishing complete with 2 sinking/capsizes I can hardly wait to get a non submarine kayak and get back out there in March, when the seasons’ open again on the high alpine lakes.

I’m with ya on that and it’s a good thought.👍
