Two bows

Nothing exceptional but I got two bows out of the local creeks that haven’t been stocked since June. Trip was cut short when my wife called me about a water leak in the basement. It was a bugger to fix, faulty pipe was under the AC ducts. I’m not much of a plumber but just got it fixed with some sharkbites and it is not leaking.Bows we’re 13 and 14”. Good smoking material.

Nice catch Brad, holdovers fight harder than fresh hatchery fish. Since your trip was interrupted, I sense a return in the near future.

Here I am an archery nut and was anxious to discover what kind of bows you had bound in a creek. I was a little disappointed when you only had two nice rainbow trout! Just Sayin...RJS

I too was once an archery nut, made my own longbows and recurves, four shoulder surgeries put an end to that passion.

In remembrance of my Dad, i'd dredge them in flour, fry until golden on both sides, season with salt, and relish that yummy fish, mabe with french fries and ketchup on the side. I love the flavor of throut!

Just as an aside, I came home from work late one evening. I had a couple of whole, frozen steelhead waiting for me.
I was tired. I heated enough oil in my big wok to deep-fry the fish. I placed the still frozen fish in the 365' F. oil and fried them until the skins were lightly browned, and the orange flesh was cooked through. I put them on paper towels to drain, and salted them. I was expecting edible. What i got was amazing. The skin was cracker crisp, with a very thin and light crisp texture on just the surface of the flesh. The flesh was moist, tender, and full flavored. The backbone easily pulled out whole, taking the majority of bones with it. Even the fins were delicious. This was easily one of best fish cooking discoveries.

You have options for those beautiful rainbows.
