How do you tell the difference between small mouth bass and large mouth bass? (freshwater)
I’m wondering because we found a massive 7 pounder in the pond on our property he ate the majority of the other fish in there so we gotta stock it with large shinners from the bait store until we can get some bluegill in there
Edit: the jaws goto its gill plate so it’s a large mouth

Yes, if the jaw goes past the eye, it's a Largemouth.
Also, the largemouth has a
lateral line along its' sides
whereas a smallmouth has
a series of vertical 'bars' !
There are also spotted
bass, which are similar to smallmouths, but with a
'slotchy' pattern, instead !
Learning a bout Bass thanks
