Spinning reel extra spools

In the old days, when you bought a spinning reel it usually came with at least one extra spool; additional spools could be purchased. I haven’t found that to be the case today. Because of this, I find that I have to buy a separate reel for each line weight I use. does anyone know of a line of reels (salt or freshwater) which comes with an extra spool or for which extra spools can be bought.

I know that Tackle direct sells extra spools for penn spinfisher reels. Not sure about any other reels. It seems to me that they should be as available as other replacement parts such as bearings.

Shimano reels way back in the mid 80’s came with an extra spool. The penn reels I bought within the last couple of years didn’t come with extra spools but you can order them. There is a Tackle Direct store near where I live and they have spare spools for penn reels there in the store. I bet if you contacted the manufacturer of whatever reels you have they would send you one . It will probably cost you though.

Order spare spools from the manufacturer there's usually a place to inquire about that in the literature that came with the real most you can get replacement spools for😀👍🐟🎣

Don't know what brand you use,
but I've had the same problem !
Since I use Shimano reels
exclusively, I looked up the manufacturer/distributor online
and found out that I could buy
them that way ! Maybe you could
find a phone/contact/customer service number for your brand
and buy your spools directly
from them !
Okuma makes reasonably-priced saltwater reels and should have
extra spools available from the
manufacturer ! Average prices I've found run in the $10/$15 range !
