Welcome to the stage mark. I've never even heard of fish gum just watched a video on YouTube and I don't know why it wouldn't work in fresh water

Really? A wise person once said there was no such a thing as a dumb question. Sometimes I wonder.

I think he means something like fish bites in clam flavor or some such. It might be worth a try. I've used fresh water mussels for bait and caught perch.

I googled it Fly, and yes it is fish bites. I have used it successfully in salt but I have never tried it in freshwater. I think I will if I can remember to next spring.

If you meant ‘chum’ I’d say probably not, but making your own chum for sweet water isn’t hard.

Yeah, it is similar to fish bites, which is great stuff. A lot of surf fishers use it, sometimes alone and sometimes as an additive to cut-bait, etc. The problem with it is availability. You can get it in Florida at some bait shops and sometimes you can order it direct from fish gum, but not always. The nylon netting that it is spread on isn't as tough as fish bites and comes off easier, which is a plus as anyone who has used fish bites knows. It is basically a scent release agent and I don't see why it wouldn't work in fresh water. Bama Beach Bum has a series of videos on YT where he fished only fish bites for three consecutive days and caught over 100 fish and like 25 different species, so if fish gum is better than that they're doing okay.
