Johnny and Susie were driving home hit and wounded a skunk on the road.
Susie gets out and brings it back to the car.
* "We need to take it to a vet. Its shivering, it must be cold, what should I do?" she asks.
Johnny replies,
** "Put it between your legs to keep it warm."
* "But it stinks!" she exclaims.
** "So hold its nose!"
Susie gets out and brings it back to the car.

I was sleeping in the back seat of my dad's Ford
between Houston and Bridgeport Tex
had my nose in the crack of the seats
and we ran over a skunk
Dad got out on one side and started vomiting
Mama on the other side bein sick
and I never made it out of the car
that car and our clothes smelled to high heaven for weeks
we could smell a skunk every time it rained

Besides being sick and missing
a week of school, I could not get
that scent out of my nostrils or sinuses for weeks, and had little appetite for several days !
