If you like catching snapping turtles you can put a piece of chunk bait on each clip. when the snapper bites down the clip flips over so they can't open their mouth to let go. tie it to a rope attached to something on shore and throw it about ten feet out.

Its actually illegal. Adaptation of a trot line. You put a large weight on the end clip then unclip the rest, add your bait and throw it in your favorite spot. Be sure though to attach a retrieval cord to the sinker.
